Makanan sabah

Hari neh, duk bercerita pasal makanan dalam salah satu group whatsapp aku yg mana 99% orang sabah.

Macam2 keluar la especially 4 jenis makanan neh.

Meh aku summarykan 4 jenis makanan tuh. Nk details, rajin2 la sikit guna pakcik google ye.

Perghhhh..

Lato: sejenis makanan rumpai.laut . Kaum bajau memang slalu.makan neh jadikan ulam. Again, limau dan cili padi memang kena ada lah. Tapayah masak bagai. Bersihkan aje. Aku memang auka benda alah neh.

Tak sabar.nak balik sabah bulan sept.nanti. nak cari Tuhau lagi. Apa itu tuhau? Haaaa google la. Baik punya bau.

JKT-BDO OCT 2012 : Day 2 - Jakarta Raya

Day 2: October 20th 2012
Mission: Tanah Abang & Around Jakarta Raya

While waiting for the last group to reach Jakarta in the evening, the group has decided to pay Pusat Grosir Tanah Abang a visit.

There are many theories of shopping in Tanah Abang including:
(Warning: Read somewhere in the net but not necessarily true)
1. Tanah Abang is the centre of distribution of clothing. hence, the price is abit lower than others including the infamous Pasar Baru in Bandung
2. Block B shops sell their goods a bit cheaper than Block A

Well, i found No 1 is not entirely true but somehow, after being lost for few times, alone, i do find No 2 is , well, live up to its reputation.
Why?
Block A: New shoplots maybe. More organised and neat
Block B: Typical shoplots in textile centres perhaps
By the way, there's a building named Metro which is also a prt of Pasar Tanah Abang.

Did i go there? Seriously, i have no idea. It is a big place.

We started the day quite early and the idea was to stay in Jakarta city for the weekends and head for Bandung on weekdays to beat the traffic.
This tip is very useful and i personally advise you guys to actually note this...
again, somewhere in the net, Jakarta dwellers will reduce to about 5M people in the weekends compared to 15M during the weekdays. Usually, the city peeps will head to out of Jakarta places for liburan.
This is also backed up by our Supir Pak Dedy.

Early traffic

Jakarta Central.Bulatan Randy (Pangalila) - according to me.
the Red lines mark the busway.
It took us about 45 minutes to reach Tanah Abang from Tebet, Jakarta Selatan.
Our minds were fixed at-kain, kain,kain- for i have plans to sell some of em back in kantor.

This is where we get off and the entrance is at SLG level.

...and was greeted by:

mau tak gila tengok kain cantek2.
tapi den tak berani [yet] nak pakai kebaya kat belakang yang penuh dengan sulaman tuh.
overall, kain yang cantek2 average harga is RM50 (RP150K). Ada jugak yang cheaper.
but this time, Sulam Timbul (From Bukit Tinggi??) was hot seller.
(TW update: habis dengan budak office je)

One of the main objectives was to but lace, and textile for Yun's wedding.
It was supposed to be cheaper here in Tanah Abang.
and i guess it was indeed. The winning point is always that they have the latest and chic and pretty designs.

aaaa..one of the ready made set on sale and surely, i grabbed one (the above to be exact). Chantek kan?

Hungry? no worries. There's a foodcourt on level 8. This one is way better than the foodcourt in Pasar Baru.
No one will actually bugs you trying to get you to order form them.
Here, as any other foodcourt, we shall order at the counter.
(actually, in Pasar Baru, there are biiiiiiiiiggggggggg reminders to the patrons to order direct at the counter to avoid others to mark-up on top of the actual food price).

well, as usual, food that can be found here are Nasi Timbel, Nasi Uduk, Ayam penyet, Sup Buntut, etc etc. For muslims, please look into the menu carefully as some kiosks maybe selling pork.

There is a shop, i think it was CFC, which has a special menu - Menu Astaga. If not mistaken it was supposed to be super spicy chickens. urrghh...i forgot to try it...heheh

At the end of the day, voila..my 45+10l backpack is full to the brim with?

here it is...

and some other stuffs not pictured here...

anyway. a reminder to all eager shoppers.
see below sample?
i thought i was getting the exact one.

naaayyyy..i got similar. without the bottom flowers..

so, next time, a reminder for me as well, check EACH AND EVERY package. i even got 2 which are stained but luckily managed to get it clean easily.

after some rest at our homestay after nearly 10 hours at Tanah Abang alone, we proceed to pick-up the last group to reach Jakarta Raya.

At Bandara, there was one peculiar man who wanted to get onto our bus.
Luckily, our group is not that huge to not notice this man.
He tried to get onboard by opening the door few times which scared some of us.
We managed to get away safely.
Nevertheless, hopefully the man will be just fine. maybe he just wanted a ride to jakarta city but sorry, u just scared all of us.

anyway, we proceeded with dinner at one of the resto - seafood i guess. When we reached, it was on last orders. Hey, did the resto here actually closed at 9pm?
hmm...anyway, i do notice that it is much easier to get food and resto in Bandung.
Before we head back to our bunk, we stopped by Monas and i am quite impressed by the view.
There were patrol cars around and according to our supir, sometimes, there are demonstrations here and also at the Bulatan Randy (ehem) as per above pictures.

hence, there were on standby in case those get worse.

Istana President

All in all, 2nd day experience do enlighten my view of liburan or weekend.
we can just hang out pretty much anywhere permitted.
It does not mean that we need to be at pay-to-use areas just to have a chat.
i wouldn't know where and what for you, but for me..
we have many parks, lakes around.
Bulatan Randy (refer above roundabout) can be accessed and people can hangout on the curb at night.
but i don't think ours are accessible.

there's always the first to everything.
why don't we give it a try (grin)

Mengerutu!

Haish..semalam buat mende neh untuk buka ini hari..
selama neh main beli jek tau...budak ofis yang ajar neh...
sorryla ye..rupe mak aii tapi rasa? ok kot..yela..petang neh kot baru nk rasa :p

 Telur 7 bijik. Basuh dulu
Hari tuh masa camping, Ana kata, karam kalau tak basuh.
menda elok. apa salah nye follow kan.

ambik 4 sudu besar gula  & masak sampai jadik kuning cantek.
my first attempt..hangus sebab leka...

pastuh, bila gula dah ok, sejukkan.
sementara, pukul telur tadik. semua tau.
pastuh, masukkan sama ada:
a. susu cair 1 tin + gula
b. susu pekat 1 tin.
ada yg tambah air 1 cawan.

pastuh tuang atas gula yg dah beku tadik.
kukus.

kalau MALAS, tak cover kukus, inilah jadiknya.

tapi bila dah lepas 45minit dikukus, terbalikkan, dapatla mcm neh..
dah boleh makan...ok?

selamat berbuka!

JALAN2 carik makan...

These few days were filled with invitations and sadly, we could only obliged to fulfill a handful few.
First , there was the trip to Kg Cheras Baru to Ida's engagement cum open house. after an hour trying to find street no 43 (as tipped by locals) and decided to go home, the happily engaged Ida managed to check her turned-off phone and get her sister to pick us up. My remedy? the Daging Salai masak lemak, sayur tempoyak (dunno what daun la) and the sambal belacan , was, damn delicious musciuos luscious ..i forgot to take pics!! yg panas nye, my husband's fren used to stay around here and he couldn't recall of being in the area!!!

In the afternoon, off to go to a birthday party cum open house in Kelana Jaya. Zie's house is waaaayyy easier to find for the fact that it's situated in a Taman perumahan and the area is somewhat familiar. Aiman (3+) and Ira (1+) were happily cutting and eating off their ultraman and mickey mouse decorated cake. Banyak nye PRRC member (Proton Replica Rally Club)..replica? what's dat even mean? again, forgot to take photo.

Today, off we go to SMSS BATCH OF 94 open house hosted by Md Ahirudin & Alin this year. as usual, it's a potluck event and as usual i will bring cikedis..shut up!! the event went fine and i remembered to take photos eventho not much.

Then we sped off to sec 7 shah alam for my dear hubby's mini gath at Manja's house. nice house, i would say. dunno whether the plates are of VANTAGE but they sure look very english. her whole house is filled with rose themed deco and suffice to say, nice house, nice neighbourhood and nice decos.

at home, editing photos and all, no dinner!!! not at all. (does maggi & quaker oat counts as food?)

* sigh* esok tak cuti. but i proved myself as a good co-driver as even i forgot to take all the maps readily printed out on Fri, i could find ways and means to find my way and thanks to Google map which can pinpoint md ahirudin's house ..easy peasy..

Food from Bazaar Ramadhan SS18 Subang Jaya.

The top one is called BRIK. A food originated from the East. It has something like mashed potato and an egg as the filling. The flour will be rolled in front of your eyes, then comes the mashed potato and the egg. Then off it goes into the boiling hot frying pan. Tastes soo good while hot. RM2/pc and i'd say it's worth it.I think the seller is from Bosnia or something. The daughter speaks fluent malay though.

The 2nd food is a colourful array of Roti Jala. sold by 3 arab-mixed pretty sisters (i think so). Frankly, i was drawn tot heir stall because they're pretty!! Not that im a lesbo or something. Then, this one catches my eyes. Not only the Roti Jala comes in variant colours, the chicken curry is also delicious. RM2/Set of 5, also worth it.

This one is a local Terengganu poridge. It must have the i-dunno-what-daun-is-that or else, it's just like any other Bubur Lambuk. The leaves give its speciality and it tastes good. RM2/Bowl, well ok larrrr..

that's all my fave for Puasa 2008. The rest, nayyyy...just the same.

My [mad] twin

While my twin was keeping herself busy by cleaning up the bedroom (out of a sudden), i was amused by Aznil's antique in Tom-Tom Bak. He sounded more like Indons when in reality he was trying to converse in Sabah slang. haha. mana ada bah kamiurang cakap mcm tuh. bikin gali. Sia heran jugak. kanapa kdg2 orang bilang kami cakap macam Indon when clearly we don't!! Anyway, this week show were filled by sabahan children and i wonder why. Maybe ASTRO did put all the applications from Sabahans, chose the best, and decided to call them all in for 1 show. We had Tarian Bajau (I think la), alaaa...yg pilipin punya tuh bah...we had storyteller and we also had a funny lil boy who spoke in sabah slang the entire show. bravo!!!

Talking about show, i managed to watch The Other Boleyn Girl.

It's a story set in Tudor England and it involves the royalties. The casts? see above posters..ahaks. Boleyn Families are of Low-class level of the Royal Family and hence, the girls can only be either Lady-In-waiting (PA /Personal Maid) or be a mistress. It's about a truce between two sisters in capturing King Henry VIII's Heart in which Anne Boleyn (believed to be the eldest, not George) managed to but later only to be executed for having an incestuous affair with George. Now, Anne was portrayed as an ambitious lady who wants the Queen's throne. However, how would so since Queen Catherine (Catherine of Aragon) was there and then, the Queen's favorite Lady-in-waiting as the mistress. Somewhere own the storyline and history, Anne managed to marry King Henry and later executed. Mary? well, she married a commoner. Her misrable life is depicted in another novel by Philippa Gregory is a 2004 "The Queen's Fool". It's good to note that Queen Mary I was a daughter by King Henry and Queen Katherine while Queen Elizabeth was a daughter by King Henry and Anne Boleyn. Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon of Hunsdon, and Catherine Carey, Lady Knollys, were the offspring of either King Henry or William Carey with Mary Boleyn. so, we'll never know!!!

Ok, now my fave kinda movie - The War of The Dragon.

Jason Behr starred in this Korean movie and i like it on the basis that it based on a dragon folklore. haha. Korean Dragon are supposed to have 4 toes. Legend has it that a Chinese Dragon was walking towards south when it started to lose its toes on by one. Hence, Chinese Dragon has 5 toes, Korean Dragon has 4 toes and Japanese Dragon has 3 toes. Please go here for synopsis -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-War_(film).

which poster do you like more? i like the 1st and 3rd. The first looks mysterious and rather more like a poster for online game. The third looks very movie-ish. the rest? looks like cheap movies. The stunt and the graphics in this movie are ok and you wont really notice the weirdness of a serpent slithering thru the city. Even the flight direction of the debris looks real. Watch it.

Oh yes. Jason Behr is the guy from Roswell in which i hated him. But, abocve pix, nmpk cute plak.

On other subject, i accidentally came across Par-Boiled Rice or Beras Rebus. My other half was supposed to buy a kampit of beras of 5kg and my instruction was "do not buy anything above RM25.00". So, he was kinda looking for a beras in which harganya is exactly RM25.00/5KG. When he couldn't find it, he took the one with price tag closer to RM25.00, which was RM20.00. I'M sure that there are many other white rice available in the supermarket but forgetting that my dear husband don't even know how to cook rice, i should have known better. He thought that all rice is of the same type and he bought Par-Boiled Rice. I've never eaten or cook any. so, i surfed the net and couldn't find any special notice on how to cook the beras. Instead, i found out that this type is quite nutritious and in between Brown rice and white rice. perfect choice. nvmd. I've noticed that 2 pots of white rice IS NOT the same as the same amount of Parboiled rice. But it tastes nice and really2 in between of brown rice, Basmathi and white rice. Minus the sticky parts. Good for nasik goreng. my adventure with Parboiled rice has not ended and to be continued.

My twin cleaned the windows at 2am yesternight and changed the curtains all together. mad isn't she? She's kinda in the "spring-cleaning mood & mode" and will throw away anything that comes in the way.

well, let her be. At least, something is done around the house.

Becca & aSSam pedas

her name is becca, nick name of course. SPM leaver and did a stint in TW as a temp staff. To her luck, she was destined to attend an audition for Deal or No Deal in NTV7. She got the role. So, as today -March 18th- is her last day in TW, i wish her luck and we'll catch with u on TV.. Pic taken before she gets famous...hehehe..

Last reunion meeting, Pojik & Put were very kind and gave away few Noraini's instant "perencah". Well, today i decided to try one, Asam Pedas flavour. I was jokingly ask Pojik whether they have put fish in the box and was returned with standard statements like "apa lah ko neh"..heh...by the way, Asam Pedas does not taste great. Maybe i didn't put anything else other than Ladyfingers (no, not human fingers u moron, it's "Kacang Bendi") and fish. I should've put more self-adding ingredient kot like daun limau..errr..entah. Asam Pedas reminds me of Del as her AP is simply superb. Maybe all Johorians love asam pedas. anyway, TQ Put & Pojik.

back to school...er...work :D

haaaaaaaaaaa.........the week is over...
19th - Afterwork, dash back home, packed up and get outta the house at 9pm. stop by Gombak's petronas and had McD...10.30pm time to hit the road except i wasn't driving..harharhar good for me..sooooooooooooooooooo good. If not bcoz of the baby, i wud be the driver since hubby is ..rabun malam gitewww...so, i didn't know how was the traffic flow except it's a bit jammed here and there..

20th - 4a.m. nevertheless, alhamdulillah, reached home at Chendering safely. Bath, change and bottlefed sofiya and time to hit the bunk. about 9a.m. baru bangun..oopsss..Raya Haji...selamat menyambut aidiladha.

Doting grandparents

21st - 3pm. hit the infamous bundle spread in Batu Buruk beach. tips: only hit the 1st three camps from the Primula hotels. They have stuffs from Singapore as well. the rest, i heard is more Malaysian things and common. i was told that the bundle towkay actually hires some people to go to each house and buy 2nd hand good quality bajus, seluars, baby stuffs , comforter, whutever nots..i found Baby Guess gowns in tip-top conditions. didn't like the colour tho..malam, pegi rumah mak teh telemong. wajib. she's so nice to my kids. and she is a very nice lady.
22nd-24th - makan, tidur, tv, ronda2, makan, tidur. haha...

Sofiya - tv (commercial time) even food won't budge her

25th - balik KL.12noon and reached KL around 8PM. Toll RM21.00 (dunno the name) ok, no jam. Toll RM3.00 (karak kot??) ok, clear. Toll Gombak..adeh..but well-known dah toll nih, kacau lorong smart tag je. ceh. penat aku pakai smart tag jek. otw balik, stop by Kuala kemaman. Usuan stop would be Kedai che wan. the satar is superb (tho not my food of choice), i love the Otak-otak ikan except nasi campur takde. Latest was Nasi Kawah. So, i wanted to stop at "Kedai Nyusuk" but hubby objected. ceh!!! takpe next time. The kampung style food is simply super-superb!! Pari, ikan bakar, ulam2an. tmpt lain pun ada but this one is sooooooo kampung even the kedai does not have any signboard. anyway, "Kedai Nyusuk" also means kedai yg agak2 tersorok. Non-frequents would not know this place and Iqbal intro me to this place few months ago..thanks bro!! lastly, pegi la kedai apa ntah. sebelah tailor@ kedai bundle, yellow-colored shop. The plate is huge-similar to Big Plate- except the material is hardened plastic unlike BP.Ok la....comparing the satar+otak2 with Kedai Che Wan, KCW is waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy better. Ok, this was the time i saw the above unfortunate public phone. what happened people??????????? earthquake? flood?OMG!!! Yeah no doubt practically everyone has HP nowadays, but whut about those WO HP? Emergency? i can only imagine. Even so, when malaysian can learn to appreciate public amenities?only god knows..
